Payment links

  • Updated

Stripe-powered payment links in Desk give concierge teams a fast, flexible way to close sales when guests aren’t ready to book on the spot. Instead of relying on manual follow-ups or taking credit card details over the phone.

Enable payment links

To enable payment links for your company:

  1. Click Settings in the Desk navigation.
  2. Select Company settings.
  3. Under Payments, check the Enable payment links box.
  4. Click Save.

Creating payment links

Once you have enabled payment links in your company settings, create a payment link for a client under the Payments view in FareHarbor Desk.

To create a payment link:

  1. Click Dashboard in the Desk navigation.
  2. Select the client for which you’d like to create the payment link.
  3. On the Client page, navigate to the payment section.
  4. Select the relevant payment from the Outstanding payment table.
  5. If an outstanding payment does not already have a payment link generated, click Create a payment link.
  6. Once clicked, a modal overlay for the payment link will appear on your screen. Use the Set expiration dropdown to choose when the link expires. Choose from 1 hour, 12 hours, or 24 hours.
  7. Click the Create payment link button.

If the customer does not make the payment before the defined expiration, you will receive an email that the payment link was cancelled or expired and you must cancel or update the voucher and create a new payment link for the customer. When a payment link expires, the customer will receive an automatic email notification prompting them to call the desk if they would like to make another booking.

Once you’ve created the payment link, a new payment link modal overlay will appear. Here you can copy the Stripe payment link at the top of the modal overlay.

You may also customize the message that accompanies the payment link when it is sent to the customer. Once you’re ready to send the payment link, click the Send payment link button.

After you send your payment link, the payment link code will appear under the Payment link column in your Outstanding payments table. Click the icon under the Actions column in the table to:

  • Copy the payment link
  • Cancel the payment link
  • View the payment link details

Note: Once a payment link has been issued, vouchers will be locked under the Vouchers view. When locked, you cannot edit vouchers unless the payment link is cancelled.

Customer experience

Once you send a payment link, the customer will receive the link via email along with your customized message.

Clicking on the Make a payment button will send users to a Stripe checkout page where they can add their payment information and complete the payment.

After paying, customers will receive a payment confirmation email.

Once the customer has made the payment, the payment will be moved from the Outstanding tab to the Transactions tab in the Payments view. Payment events such as payment link creation and payment completion are viewable in the Activity log in the Vouchers view.
