Use commission splits to divide a voucher’s agent commission between one or more agents. This page explains how to update the commission split on an existing voucher and ensure the total allocation is correct.
Overview
A commission split is a list of agents and their assigned percentages. Desk uses these percentages to divide the total agent commission for a voucher. Commission splits do not create additional commission. Desk first calculates the total commission amount, then allocates that amount across agents based on the split.
Each split must follow these rules:
- Each agent can appear only once.
- Each percentage must be greater than 0.
- The total split must equal 100%.
If only one agent is included, Desk treats this as a 100% split. When no split exists, Desk defaults to the booked-by agent at 100%.
When multiple agents are included, Desk allocates commission proportionally. For example, a $200 commission split at 70% and 30% results in $140 and $60.
Desk also saves agent and percentage combinations as reusable recent splits. These can be filtered by Desk and reused to speed up future updates.
Note: Because commission values are stored in cents, Desk ensures the final allocation always matches the total commission amount. When rounding is required, any remaining cents are distributed so the full amount is assigned.
Update a commission split for a voucher
To update a commission split for a voucher:
- Open the voucher you want to update.
- Navigate to the commission section.
- Add or remove agents as needed.
- Update each agent’s split percentage.
- Ensure each agent appears only once.
- Confirm that the total split equals 100%.
- If needed, update the total agent commission amount.
- Click the Save button.
After saving, Desk recalculates the commission allocation and records the split as a recent profile for future use.
You can also update the commission split from the voucher actions menu in the client profile if that option is available.
Note: If a voucher is locked, the commission split cannot be updated. Desk blocks the change and the voucher must be unlocked before any commission split edits can be made.
